Retaining Walls
Most often constructed out of necessity to prevent erosion or to keep a steep bank from caving off onto your property, retaining walls can also be used to divert water or to increase the usable area of your property through terracing. Whatever your goal is, we will work with you to design a wall you will love.
Constructing a retaining wall is not simply a matter of stacking some blocks and shoveling some dirt behind them. Retaining walls should be built upon a sufficiently compacted base, be appropriately reinforced, and have proper backfill and weep holes for drainage. Walls over four feet in height or that have a surcharge such as a parking area or building above them, should generally be designed by an engineer. When necessary, we consult with local engineers to design a wall that will be safe, long lasting, and beautiful.
Landscape Walls
Short and sweet!
Landscape walls are like retaining walls and the same blocks are often used. The main difference is height. Landscape walls, also known as Garden Walls, are usually only 18 to 24 inches high and are mainly used for flower beds and shallow terracing. However, if your yard or garden is subject to flooding after a good rain, a well-placed garden wall can aid in water diversion!
