At Hoof & Hen Land Services, we are expert negotiators! If there is one thing Central Arkansas has an abundance of, it is hills and downpours. This is a terrible combination if your property sits in a low area. You may find water rushing onto your property and creeping toward your front door. If you are situated on the side of a hill, you may be watching your property wash away with every hard rain.
Grading & Contouring
We offer a variety of drainage solutions, but what we recommend, if feasible, is grading and contouring your property. Often, a gentle swale will consolidate water and guide it away. Sometimes a more aggressive grading and sloping of your yard will allow water to travel to the nearest outlet. We can also install catch basins and French drains if that is determined to be the best solution. What is a swale?
A swale is a wide, shallow ditch. We have fabricated a special attachment that will easily excavate a swale about 6 feet wide and 6 to 8 inches deep. This creates effective drainage while still allowing the area to be mowed with a riding mower. Our compact equipment can get into some small areas!
